Hi, It’s interesting how, for me, periods of artistic productivity are punctuated with (sometimes long) spells where very little work is made. It has taken me many years to trust in this cycle of creativity, to use that downtime to read, look, learn, absorb, and to just know that the time will eventually come to make more work. And I’ll know that time has come because not making work isn’t an option. It’s irresistible. Of course this isn’t true for all artists. Some artists are like sharks that can’t stop swimming. Not me. That said, I’m very excited to be entering a new phase of making, largely inspired by the monoprints I’ve been making on my press, recent visits to James Turrell’s Skypace and the Powers Art Center, and creating more objects that are truly unique, one of a kind, 1 of 1. More good stuff coming soon! In the meantime, if you’re over at 29th Street, stop by Alpine Modern for a coffee and to check out my latest work, Rabbit Hole. Thanks for reading, Jamie
